Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang represented His Excellency John Dramani Mahama at the President’s Independence Day Awards ceremony.
This year’s event was dedicated to recognizing and celebrating 53 outstanding students, including some with special needs.
The event was graced by many distinguished guests, including the Minister for Education, the chairman and members of the Council of State, traditional rulers, and a representative from Nestlé.
She extended my heartfelt congratulations to all award winners and emphasized the importance of recognizing and nurturing young scholars, and asked the students to remain dedicated to their academic pursuits.
Professor Opoku Agyemang also urged them to appreciate the government, their teachers, parents, mentors, and other members of their communities who have played instrumental roles in their journey.
“As they progress through life, they must do their best to bring others along with them”.
“The students made a number of presentations as well, and I was particularly impressed by their awareness of national issues—not only their call for crucial needs, such as access to quality education, good health and protection, but also their recognition of their own responsibilities in nation-building” she stressed.
The event reaffirmed the significance of investing in education and empowering our youth.
