Holy Child R/C Basic School in the Tema West Municipality has emerged as the winner of the maiden National Malaria Inter-School Quiz, an initiative of the Service , through the National Malaria Elimination Programme (NMEP), in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service (GES).
The competition, held today at Accra Technical University as part of the 2025 World Malaria Day celebration, featured schools selected from districts in the Greater Accra region nearing malaria elimination.
These schools competed at the district level before advancing to the national stage.
After a rigorous contest, Holy Child R/C triumphed over Nii Kojo Ababio Basic School and Dansoman “2” Basic School in the finals. The winning team, represented by Ewurabena Oppong Kyekyeku and Michelle Adu Gyamfi, impressed judges with their knowledge of malaria elimination strategies. Prizes included laptops, tablets, and scientific calculators for contestants, while schools received educational materials and sanitation supplies.
The event featured key stakeholders such as Deputy Greater Accra Regional Director of Education, Mr. John Ranson, and national malaria champion Oheneyere Gifty Anti, who emphasized the role of young people in achieving a malaria-free Ghana. The quiz is expected to become a permanent fixture in enhancing malaria awareness and advocacy.
