The Baamuhene of the Senya Beraku Traditional Council, Nenyi Kweku Komitey III, has called on chiefs to desist from unnecessary litigation and instead embrace dialogue and traditional mechanisms for resolving disputes.
He said frequent court battles among traditional leaders could drain resources, deepen divisions and divert attention from the development needs of their communities.
Nenyi Kweku Komitey III made the call at the commissioning of the Masterbrain Community School at Bonsuoku near Senya Beraku, constructed by Nenyi Kweku Kwei VI, Nifahene of the Senya Beraku Traditional Council and Odikro of Senya Bonsuoku in the Awutu Senya West district.
The Baamuhene commended Nenyi Kweku Kwei VI for investing in education and contributing to the development of the community.
He noted that traditional authorities have an important role to play in promoting peace, unity and socio-economic development, and therefore urged chiefs to prioritise initiatives that would improve the lives of their people.
Nenyi Kweku Komitey III further encouraged traditional leaders to settle disagreements amicably and avoid prolonged legal disputes, which he said could negatively affect the cohesion and progress of the traditional area.
He described the Masterbrain Community School as a worthy example of how traditional leaders can use their resources and influence to address critical needs in their communities.
He called on other chiefs and well-meaning individuals to emulate the initiative by supporting education and other development projects that would create opportunities for residents, particularly children and the youth.
