As part of the quest for collaboration between our two (2) Foreign Service Institutes, i.e. Ghana and Kenya, and efforts to further strengthen the bilateral ties between our two countries in terms of Diplomacy, especially on the Commercial front, a delegation from the Foreign Service Academy of Kenya is in Ghana for a Benchmarking visit and paid a courtesy call on Hon. James Gyakye Quayson, (MP.), Deputy Foreign Minister, on Tuesday, 30th June, 2026 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Accra.
Led by the High Commissioner of the Republic of Kenya to Ghana, Ambassador Shem Amadi, with the Director of the Kenyan Foreign Service Institute, Prof. Patrick M. Maluki, and Senior Council Officials from the Kenyan side.
On the Ghana side, with the Hon. Deputy Foreign Minister was Ambassador Perpetua Dufu, the Director of Ghana’s Foreign Service Institute.
The meeting deliberated on grounds for collaboration between the two Institutes in terms of imparting the knowledge of our visionary forbearers, like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah (Ghana), and Jomo Kenyatta (Kenya).
Underscoring the enduring ancestral and historical ties between Ghana and Kenya, Hon. Gyakye Quayson noted that, relations between the two countries continue to reflect the strong cultural and historical bonds shared by our peoples, and moving it higher to include studies and exchange programmes can only strengthen these ties further.
The Hon. Deputy Minister highlighted the growing collaboration between Ghana and Kenya across various sectors, and assured that just as West and East of Africa were becoming shining examples and with Ghana and Kenya’s teaming and agile youth, these sub-regions are poise for growth which will spread to the entire continent.
He concluded by emphasizing the need to promote extensive collaboration between the private sectors of both countries to drive economic growth and sustainable development aside forging ahead in Diplomacy with the two Institutes working hand-in-hand.
On his part, H. E. Shem Amadi, the Kenyan Ambassador, commended Ghana for its development trajectory. He recounted his tour of various regions of Ghana, including Central, Eastern, Volta, Northern and Western, and applauded the leaders of the nation for the hard work in the various sectors such as education, health and infrastructure.
Taking his turn, the Director of the Kenyan Foreign Service Institute, Prof. Patrick M. Maluki, expressed sympathies for the floods that occurred in Accra the previous day, and commended the government of Ghana’s efforts in responding to distress calls and in mitigating the effects of the rains and the resulting flood situation.
