President John Dramani Mahama and the Men’s Ministry of the Ringway Assemblies of God Church visited the Nsawam Medium Security Prison on Saturday to fellowship with the inmates.
The Ministry presented, among other items, 250 bags of rice, 50 bags of maize, 50 bags of gari, 50 bags of sugar, 30 gallons of cooking oil, 50 cartons of tomato paste, 50 cartons of spaghetti, and 50 boxes of sardines, to support the welfare of inmates.
The programme involved praise, worship and ministration led by the Men’s Ministry. Head Pastor of Ringway Gospel Centre Assemblies of God Church, Reverend Benjamin Tettey, in a sermon, encouraged the inmates not to lose hope despite their circumstances. He urged them to embrace repentance, reform, and faith in Jesus Christ for strength and renewal.
President John Dramani Mahama spoke about the importance of compassion and care for prisoners. He also pledged to improve the sporting facilities in the prisons and assured them that the Lordina Foundation will support the prisoners’ health needs.
The delegation visited ongoing projects at the Nsawam prison, including a 5,000-layer poultry facility and an 800-capacity remand prison, both aimed at reducing congestion.
