Government basic schools from kindergarten through Primary Six are the only beneficiaries of the School Feeding Programme, according to the School Feeding Coordinator, Hajia Fati Forgor.
During an interview with Kwamina Sam Biney on Bryt Adekyee Munsem on bryt fm She explained that the programme is specifically targeted at pupils within these levels to help improve enrolment, attendance, and retention in public basic schools.
By providing daily meals, the initiative seeks to support children from vulnerable backgrounds and enhance their ability to stay in school and focus on their studies.
Hajia Forgor further noted that the policy does not currently extend to junior high school students, as the programme’s resources are prioritised for early childhood and primary education.
The School Feeding Programme remains a key government intervention aimed at reducing hunger among schoolchildren while promoting access to basic education across the country.
