The United States has donated $4 million worth of military equipment to the Ghana Armed Forces to strengthen the country’s defence and security capabilities.
The donation, which includes protective gear, radar systems and training materials, is expected to enhance the operational capacity of the Ghana Army and Ghana Navy, particularly in surveillance, communication and maritime security.
Announcing the donation, the United States said the support underscores its longstanding security partnership with Ghana and a shared commitment to addressing emerging security challenges.
“The United States is proud to continue its longstanding security partnership with Ghana through the donation of $4 million in military equipment to the Ghana Armed Forces,” it said.
According to the US, the equipment will bolster the capabilities of both the Ghana Army and the Ghana Navy.
“The equipment. including protective gear, radar systems and training materials, will support the Ghana Army and Ghana Navy in strengthening surveillance, communication, and operational capabilities,” the statement said.
The United States noted that the donation reflects the two countries’ commitment to promoting regional peace and security.
“This donation reflects our shared commitment to regional stability, maritime security, and addressing transnational threats,” it added.
The latest support forms part of ongoing defence cooperation between Ghana and the United States aimed at improving the readiness and effectiveness of the Ghana Armed Forces in responding to evolving security threats within the sub-region.
