Sarkodie M/A Basic School in the New Juaben South Municipality of the Eastern Region is on the verge of collapse—literally. The school, which reopened for the new academic term, is forcing students and teachers to operate in unroofed classrooms and dangerously dilapidated buildings, posing a serious threat to lives and education.

Broadcast Journalist Odikro Nyarko Abronoma has been vocal about the dire condition of the school infrastructure, describing it as a “death trap.” He has continuously called on government officials to act swiftly, yet no tangible response has come from the relevant authorities.
Despite multiple appeals, the following key stakeholders have remained silent or inactive on the matter:

Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Hon. Michael Okyere Baafi
Municipal Chief Executive, Ransford Owusu Boakye
Eastern Regional Minister, Hon. Rita Akosua Awatey
“How can we expect academic excellence from students who are learning under broken roofs and cracked walls?” Abronoma questioned.

Concerned parents and residents are demanding immediate intervention to avert a potential tragedy and to restore dignity to the learning environment of future leaders.
With school already in session, the clock is ticking. The question remains: when will the authorities act?
