Residents of Tanoso, a suburb of Nsukwao in the New Juaben Sorth Constituency, are raising serious concerns about a damaged bridge that has become a danger to both motorists and pedestrians.
A concerned citizen, Miss Vera Boateng, revealed that her three-year-old daughter nearly fell through a large crack and gaping hole on the bridge. According to her, the situation has been ignored for far too long, putting lives at risk.
The reporter upon a visited the scene to witnessed the situation firsthand, and indeed, confirmed the bridge poses a major hazard. The cracks and holes make it unsafe for road users, especially drivers at night who could easily be trapped or involved in accidents.
Residents lament that the damage has persisted for almost two years without any action from the authorities. They accuse the current Assembly Member, Mr. Frank Asare, popularly known as PM, of neglecting the situation and failing to visit the area to assess the problem.
Some residents also complained that the deep holes on the bridge have turned into a public health concern, as some individuals now use the space as a makeshift lavatory. This, they fear, could lead to an outbreak of cholera and other related diseases if nothing is done urgently.
The people of Tanoso, Nsukwao, are therefore appealing to the new administration and the municipal authorities to repair the bridge immediately to prevent loss of lives and improve safety in the area.
