Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has named his squad for Ghana’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against the Central African Republic and Comoros, with fresh faces and key returns boosting the team’s chances.
Promising forward Kojo Peprah Oppong, 21, has been handed his first senior call-up after impressing in the French Ligue 1 with OGC Nice. His journey from Ghana’s Division One side Attram De Visser to Europe has now earned him a place on the international stage.
The squad also sees the return of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, who played a vital role in Leicester City’s promotion campaign in England before suffering a long-term ACL injury. Defender Alidu Seidu is back as well, having fully recovered from a knee injury that sidelined him for nearly a year.
Medeama SC midfielder Prince Owusu has been rewarded with a maiden call-up after a strong start to the Ghana Premier League season.
Ghana sit at the top of Group I and need just four points from their last two matches to secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The Black Stars face the Central African Republic in Meknes on October 8 before welcoming Comoros to Accra on October 12 in what promises to be two decisive fixtures.
