In a strong display of leadership and commitment to sustainable development, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for New Juaben South, Hon. Ransford Boakye, has pledged to accelerate key projects in education, health care, water supply, and youth development—calling for collaboration among stakeholders to drive progress across the municipality. His remarks were echoed by Municipal Planning Officer Iris Dalaba, who delivered an inspiring speech underscoring the importance of community-centered planning as the foundation for real, lasting change.
Speaking at a recent community event held in Koforidua, Hon. Boakye expressed gratitude to President John Mahama for the opportunity to serve and reaffirmed that his role is not about personal gain, but rather about improving the lives of residents through targeted, impactful projects.

“The government has given us a role to play,” he said. “We must ensure that by the end of our four-year term, we can point to at least one or two major projects as evidence of our hard work.”
Already, the assembly has begun notable developments, including the construction of a six-classroom block for Zion Primary B School at Apempowah and the drilling of 18 boreholes across various communities. Hon. Boakye further revealed that additional school projects are underway, and assured residents that by 2026, several more development initiatives will be completed.
Madam Iris Dalaba, the Municipal Planning Officer, highlighted the vital role of inclusive planning in ensuring development is both meaningful and effective. In her heartfelt address, Dalaba shared her belief that true planning begins with listening—to mothers seeking safer walkways, farmers worried about losing land, and youth hoping for opportunities to grow.
“Community engagement is not a step in the process—it is the process,” she said. “Planning done for people, without including people, is planning done wrong.”
Dalaba emphasized that planning is not just about policies or infrastructure but about shaping towns and cities that reflect the hopes, stories, and needs of the people who live there. Her speech was a call to action for all residents and officials to participate actively in the development process.

Together, Hon. Boakye and Iris Dalaba’s remarks paint a picture of a municipality grounded in partnership, purpose, and a shared commitment to building a better future—one project and one voice at a time.
