This year’s Youth Annual Conference has been held in the New Juaben South Municipality under the theme “From Voices to Impact: Youth Leading City Governance.” The conference brought together young people from across the municipality to share their views and contribute ideas towards local development.
Speaking at the event, the Municipal Director of the National Youth Authority (NYA) for New Juaben South, Madam Elizabeth D. Kufoalor, said the conference created a platform for the youth to express their opinions and concerns so that their views could be forwarded to the appropriate authorities for support and action.

She explained that participants were grouped into three thematic areas. The first focused on youth inclusion, particularly youths with disabilities, stressing that they must be involved in all development activities within the municipality. The second group discussed health and well-being, with emphasis on healthy living and the dangers of drug abuse among the youth. The third area centered on women and young ladies, encouraging them to actively participate in development projects.
Madam Kufoalor noted that the Youth Annual Conference is an event organized every year. She recalled that last year’s edition was held at the stadium, while this year’s conference took place at the Municipal Library Hall, which is closer to government ministries to help strengthen collaboration.

Also speaking at the conference, Madam Ester Nketiah, Executive Director of the Youth Annual Conference, described the program as an annual initiative aimed at bringing young people together to discuss issues affecting them and their communities. She said the ideas and lessons gathered throughout the year would be reviewed, and final decisions and recommendations would be taken from the youth themselves.
She added that the discussions focused on key questions such as how to support youths with disabilities in New Juaben South, what actions the youth can take to drive development, and how to promote healthy lifestyles. According to her, these discussions are essential in shaping policies and initiatives that will contribute to the development of the municipality.

Madam Nketiah emphasized that the conference was organized to ensure that the voices of the youth are heard and translated into meaningful impact for the growth of New Juaben South.
