The Eastern South Regional Police Command has restored calm at Boadua in the Eastern Region and arrested 8 after violently invading Chief palace in attempt to take over.
Boadua is facing serious Chieftaincy disputes in recent years following attempts by a faction to destool the legitimate chief who has reigned for over 20 years.
According to the police, the latest incident occurred on Saturday, December 14, 2025, when a complaint was lodged by the Bretuo Abusuapanin of Boadua that a group of persons from the Boadua Aduana Family stormed the Boadua Chief’s Palace, damaged the main entrance, and forcefully entered the premises to destroy the shrine in an attempt to take over the palace from the Bretuo Family.
Police say upon receipt of the complaint, officers were swiftly dispatched to the palace, where they managed to restore order and prevent further disturbances.
In the course of police operations, eight suspects were arrested to assist with investigations. They are Baffour Kwame Agyei Kwabena Twum, Baffour Kwame Annor, Baffour Kofi Dankwa, Maxwell Frimpong, Eric Dankwah, Nana Kwaku Frimpong, Baffour Kwasi Ampaabeng, and Baffour Yaw Anya.
The suspects have since been granted police enquiry bail and are expected to be arraigned before court on Thursday, December 18, 2025.
A statement signed by DSP David Fianko-Okyere, Head of Public Affairs, Eastern South Region Command assured residents of Boadua of its commitment to maintaining peace and security and has cautioned all parties involved to remain calm and allow due process to take its course.
