The Chief of Begoro, Daasebre Nana Meriku Afari II, has celebrated his one-year anniversary and homecoming with a colourful ceremony at Begoro, drawing traditional leaders, political figures, and residents of the constituency.
Speaking at the event, the Member of Parliament for Fanteakwa North, Hon. Kodua Appiah Kwame, used the occasion to express his profound gratitude to the people for voting massively for him to become a Member of Parliament. He noted that it is exactly one year since he was elected to represent the constituency.
Hon. Kodua Appiah Kwame emphasized the need for strong collaboration between himself, Daasebre Nana Meriku Afari II, and all stakeholders to drive development in the Begoro constituency, with a special focus on education. According to him, urgent steps must be taken to improve BECE and senior high school examination results, stressing that Begoro should be counted among constituencies known for academic excellence.
He further announced plans to support residents who did not have the opportunity to pursue formal education by providing skills development programmes, while students currently in school will benefit from scholarship schemes, which he said have already begun.
On healthcare and infrastructure, the MP disclosed plans to construct one of the largest maternity wards to support pregnant women, to be attached to the district hospital. He also mentioned a problematic bridge in the area, assuring residents that work would soon begin to address it. Additionally, he revealed plans to organize a major educational consultative assembly, inviting experts and dignitaries with knowledge in education to help improve learning outcomes in the constituency.
In his remarks, Daasebre Nana Mireku Afari II expressed heartfelt appreciation to the people of Begoro for their unwavering support, unity, and commitment. He noted that leadership is not sustained by money alone but by collective effort and dedication. The Paramount Chief recalled that when he ascended the throne, he did not meet abundant resources, but it was the support of the Begoro people that shaped his leadership journey.
He stressed that the development of education, healthcare, and youth empowerment in Begoro can only be achieved through unity and collective responsibility. The Chief further expressed joy after receiving assurances from Unity Link, an organization that pledged to support education, health, and overall development in the constituency.
To ensure food security and community welfare, Daasebre Nana Miureku Afari II appealed to all natives of Begoro to contribute one cedi every month, amounting to 12 cedis annually, towards the development of the constituency. He also encouraged citizens living abroad, particularly in the United States, to contribute one dollar per month to support Begoro’s growth.
He concluded by urging all residents to come together in unity to build a better and more prosperous Begoro constituency.
