The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for New Juaben South, Ransford Owusu Boakye, has commended contractors executing Common Fund projects in the municipality for the speed and quality of work delivered ,completing a school and Water Projects so far.
The projects form part of the 2025–2029 Medium-Term Development Plan (MTDP) of the New Juaben South Municipal Assembly, prepared in line with the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC) guidelines under the Medium-Term National Development Policy Framework (MTNDPF).
In October 2025, the MCE cut sod for the construction of a modern CHPS compound at Agavenya to enhance healthcare delivery, support Universal Health Coverage, and strengthen the government’s free primary healthcare policy.
He also broke ground for the construction of a six-unit classroom block at Zion Primary School, Koforidua Zongo, as well as a three-unit Kindergarten block at Police M/A Basic School, aimed at improving educational infrastructure in the municipality.
Additionally, sod was cut for the construction of 18 mechanised boreholes across selected communities to improve access to potable water.
Although the projects were scheduled for completion within 12 months, an inspection conducted on Thursday, January 8, 2026, revealed significant progress. The inspection team, led by the MCE, observed that the six-unit classroom block at Zion Basic School has been completed, while the mechanised boreholes are fully completed and already in use in some communities. Other projects are also at advanced stages of completion.
Expressing his satisfaction, Mr. Owusu Boakye said:“First of all, let me say I am so impressed with the sort of work which has been done so far. If you look at the Zion School, the contractor was given 12 months, but within two months and two weeks, the project has been completed, painted, and is almost ready for use.
“At the Regional Police Command KG project, the contractor is currently roofing the building. Here at Agavenya, where the new CHPS compound is under construction, the level of work done so far shows that all the contractors are performing very well.”
The MCE further disclosed that the Assembly is planning to roll out more infrastructure projects in 2026.
“This year, we are going to have a lot of funders. By next week, we will advertise for the construction of three additional classroom blocks. We are also renovating the Sarkodie School, which was ripped off, and completing a legacy project at Presby Primary B around the Ministries area.
“We will also add six more boreholes to the 18 already completed,” he added.
Mr. Ransford Owusu Boakye also announced that new projects, including the much-anticipated 24-hour economy market, are expected to commence soon.
Meanwhile, some residents have expressed appreciation to the government for fulfilling its development promises, while calling for more projects to further improve living conditions in the municipality.
