Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has confirmed the death of a student following an incident over the weekend.
The deceased, identified as Ransford Amankwah Asomani, was a second-year student seeking a Bachelor of Science degree in Agribusiness Management, according to a statement released by university administration on Monday, February 9, 2026.
Preliminary investigations indicate that early on Sunday, February 8, 2026, Mr. Asomani fell from the second floor of an off-campus hostel at Ayeduase. With the help of the KNUST District Police Patrol Team, his coworkers hurried him to the KNUST Hospital, where he was declared dead.
According to management, the deceased’s parents have been notified, and the body has been placed in the hospital mortuary while an autopsy is conducted.
The whole university community, as well as the deceased’s family, received condolences from the university, which expressed its profound regret over the occurrence.
In the meantime, the event is being investigated by the KNUST Police in coordination with the university’s security services.
Management promised that after investigations are finished, the public will receive more updates.
KNUST reaffirmed its dedication to the security, safety, and welfare of all employees and students.
