The new Juaben North Municipal Assembly has successfully organised a sanitation exercise for the month of February as instituted into Ghana’s sanitation calendar.
The main sanitation exercise took place in the District capital, Effiduase but was also held in all electoral areas within the municipality.
The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Samuel Adongo and traditional leaders fully participated in the clean-up exercise by cleaning along the the main Prison-Asokore road.
Despite public announcement through various platforms, some residents and shop owners failed to participate part in the cleanup, a great worry to the Municipal Assembly.
Hon. Adongo warned that anyone who fails to take part in the national Sanitation day in the month of March will be dealt with according to the Sanitation by-laws of the Municipal Assembly.
The MCE cautioned residents not to fall victims to the law because they will be prosecuted in the court of law, either by fine or imprisonment or even both.
The MCE, however, commended the Ghana prisons service for their role in the exercise by supporting the Assembly with some inmates who worked tirelessly to making sure the program was successful.
He also thanked the Effiduase District Police Commander and his men for ensuring safety during the exercise.
The Queen mother of Effiduase and other chiefs also joined to keep the municipality clean.
