Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has claimed that in 2024 there was no unity in the party, which is why they were not able to win, but if they come together as one, they are surely going to win the general election in 2028.
The former Vice President stressed that unity within the party would be key to electoral success, noting that the NPP had the numerical strength to defeat the National Democratic Congress (NDC) if members rallied behind a common agenda.
“When you look at the data, we have more numbers than the NDC, and so all we need is unity. In 2024, our members didn’t vote. So, if we can bring everybody on board, we can win,” he said.
Dr Bawumia gave the assurance when some party delegates visited him at his private residence to express their support and confidence in his leadership, on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.
“You have saved the party by your action. Because the message is gone and in 2028, they cannot use the same message against us; it will rather give us strength,” he added.
Describing the party’s efforts as entering a new phase, Dr Bawumia called on supporters to remain committed and actively participate in the rebuilding process.
He pledged to dedicate himself fully to the party’s cause.
