Eight basic schools in the Suhum North Circuit of the Suhum Municipal came together to participate in this year’s Suhum North Circuit KG Sports Competition, aimed at promoting physical development and talent identification among kindergarten pupils.
The colourful event featured activities such as sack races, 500-metre race, football, “how to dress to school” competition, and other fun sporting events designed to build confidence and teamwork among the young learners.
Speaking at the programme, Madam Vivian Ansah, the KG Municipal Coordinator for the Suhum Municipality, emphasised that education should not be limited to the classroom.
She explained that children must occasionally step out of the classroom to engage in physical and extracurricular activities, which help in their holistic development.
According to her, many children possess unique talents, and parents should not suppress them but rather encourage their wards to actively participate in school activities to nurture and develop their abilities.
Madam Ansah further appealed to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), the Member of Parliament (MP), and the government to support the schools with sporting equipment such as footballs, jerseys, and other logistics to enhance future competitions.
Also speaking at the event, Mr. Asumaku Paul, the Suhum North Circuit Sports Vice Chairman, called on corporate bodies and individuals to sponsor the initiative. He noted that the competition has been organized annually and continues to expose the hidden talents of pupils in the circuit.
He expressed confidence that with the right support, the talented children identified through such competitions could grow to become great sports personalities who will make the country proud.
The organizers also recognised the Suhum Municipal Chief Executive for her support, which contributed significantly to the success of this year’s festival.
The Suhum North Circuit KG Sports Competition remains one of the key annual events within the circuit, bringing together young learners to compete, socialise, and develop their skills beyond academics.
