The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has, on behalf of NADMO, received a consignment of ICT equipment at the 2026 first quarter meeting of the National Coordination Mechanism on Migration (NCM) in Accra.
The equipment, donated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) under the European Union-funded “ATUU” project, will enhance operations at NADMO’s Emergency Operations Centres and strengthen efforts to manage internal displacement, particularly in the Upper East and Upper West Regions.
The Minister commended the six technical working groups under the NCM for their role in improving migration governance. He highlighted their efforts in key areas such as border security, migration data management and the reintegration of returned migrants, noting that these are critical to achieving the 23 objectives of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration.
The EU Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Rune Skinnebach, reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to its partnership with Ghana, describing the support as an investment in shared goals.
The Head of Mission for IOM, Ms. Fatou Ndiaye, highlighted the importance of both equipment and training in building resilience.
NADMO Director General, Major Dr. Joseph Bikanyi Kuyon (Rtd), expressed appreciation for the continued collaboration, noting that strong partnerships are key to effective disaster response.
The items donated included laptops, drones, television sets, and desktop computers, all aimed at improving coordination, communication, and rapid response capabilities within NADMO.
