The Kumbungu District Assembly has commissioned three newly constructed 3-unit classroom blocks for the communities of Wuba, Voggu and Diggu, marking another significant step toward improving educational infrastructure in the district.
The facilities were officially handed over by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Alhaji Imoro Yakubu Kakpagu, and the Member of Parliament for Kumbungu Constituency, Prof. Hamza Adam. Each classroom block comes with office and store facilities, a 4-unit KVIP toilet, and a 2-unit urinal to support a conducive teaching and learning environment.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Kumbungu District Director of Education, Mr. Sulemana Yahaya, encouraged pupils to take their studies seriously and urged teachers to make effective use of the new facilities. He also appealed to community members to maintain the structures to attract more development projects.
Paramount Chief of the Voggu Traditional Area, Naa Bapre Voggu-Naa Sulemana Saaka, emphasized the importance of education and urged parents to keep their children in school.
He advised students to remain focused on their studies and avoid distractions that could negatively affect their academic future. The chief also called for peaceful coexistence within communities to foster development.
Prof. Hamza Adam urged parents to prioritize their children’s education and personal hygiene, while encouraging teachers to be punctual and committed to delivering quality lessons.
Addressing the gathering, Hon. Alhaji Imoro Yakubu Kakpagu reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to improving education and overall development across the district.
“As a district, we remain focused on providing quality infrastructure and creating opportunities for our children to prosper,” the DCE stated.
He further assured the schools of adequate furniture to complement the new facilities and reiterated the Assembly’s commitment to delivering more development projects in education, healthcare, roads, electricity, and potable water.
The new classroom blocks are expected to reduce overcrowding and significantly enhance the learning environment for pupils in the beneficiary communities.
