The Deputy Minister for Finance, Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem has informed Parliament that significant progress has been made towards the establishment of the Government’s proposed Women’s Bank Project.
Answering questions posed by the Member of Parliament for Techiman South, Hon. Martin Kweku Adjei-Mensah Korsah on when the Government intends to roll out the Women’s Bank Project which received a GH¢50 million allocation in the 2025 Budget, the Deputy Minister disclosed that GH¢51.3 million has been allocated for the intervention, while an additional GH¢450 million has been earmarked for the initiative in the 2026 Budget.
He further informed the House that preparatory work has been completed and that WDB GH Ltd was incorporated on January 26, 2026. According to him, Government has also applied to the Bank of Ghana for the necessary operating licence.
The Deputy Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman assured Parliament that a comprehensive update on the project will be provided by the Finance Minister during the Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review scheduled for July.
