The Government of Ghana through the ministry of finance has fully settled the latest coupon payment under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP), disbursing GH¢10.82 billion to bondholders.
The payment, confirmed by the Ministry of Finance, brings the total amount settled under the DDEP to approximately GH¢41.36 billion.
The latest payment forms part of the government’s commitment to honour its domestic debt obligations and maintain confidence in Ghana’s financial markets.
The Ministry of Finance has previously indicated that the government intends to meet all DDEP-related payment obligations as they fall due.
In its 2025 Annual Public Debt Report, the Ministry stated that government honoured all domestic debt service payments to bondholders during the year.
The government has also strengthened its Sinking Fund to prepare for future DDEP maturities.
According to the 2026 Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review, the fund had accumulated GH¢15.6 billion as of July 22, 2026, with government targeting GH¢30 billion by the end of the year to help meet a GH¢30 billion DDEP maturity due in February 2027.
The latest payment is expected to further reinforce efforts to restore investor confidence and improve the credibility of Ghana’s domestic debt management programme.
