Obeng Samuel, popularly known as Kwahu Dehyie, an aspirant for the position of New Juaben North Constituency Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), says communication within the constituency needs significant improvement.
According to him, there is a communication gap in the constituency, making it difficult for the party to effectively project its activities, policies and programmes to the public.
Speaking on Bryt Adekyee Mu Nsem, Obeng Samuel said a comparison with other constituencies shows that New Juaben North has not been communicating with the same level of consistency and visibility.
He explained that his experience as a journalist and his long-standing involvement in the constituency have equipped him with the skills needed to strengthen the party’s communication structures.
Obeng Samuel further cited Article 14(j) of the NDC Constitution, which, according to him, outlines responsibilities of the Communication Officer in leading, promoting and branding the party and communicating its programmes to the public.
He stressed that the Communication Officer should not remain passive or simply wait for others to provide information, but must take the lead in promoting and projecting the party’s activities.
He said his decision to contest the position is based on his conviction that the constituency has identified communication as an area requiring attention.
Obeng Samuel said if delegates give him the mandate, he will work to improve the visibility of the NDC in New Juaben North by strengthening communication, promoting the party’s programmes and ensuring that the constituency’s activities receive effective publicity.
He added that when the responsibilities in the party’s constitution are not followed, it means the laws of the party are being disobeyed. He therefore promised to improve communication and promote the NDC in New Juaben North if given the opportunity.
