Former Odododiodio representative in parliament, Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has declared his intention to run for National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the party’s internal elections on December 19, 2026.
Mr. Vanderpuye declared that he would submit his nomination to run for the post, claiming that his years of party service had equipped him for the role.
He said that his political journey had spanned the revolutionary phase to the party’s involvement in Ghana’s democratic dispensation in a message addressed to NDC members, supporters, and the Ghanaian public.
“I have served you through the revolution days up to today when we have the National Democratic Congress in a democratic dispensation. This is proof that I have built a life of service and a heart that cares,” he said.
He added that years of sacrifice and conviction had deepened his dedication to the party and listed empowering others, creating strong structures, and accepting responsibility as essential leadership traits.
Mr. Vanderpuye stated that his goal was motivated by a desire to rebuild, reform, and reset the NDC while reestablishing member unity and confidence.
“I consider myself ready to, together with you, step up to this very important call,” he declared.
He promised to strive toward creating a party that would be unified, inclusive, and compassionate, with members at all levels experiencing a strong feeling of belonging.
“We will build the NDC as one united, inclusive, and caring family, restoring trust among members, and a strong sense of belonging at every level,” he said.
