The Eastern Regional Youth Wing of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, is mobilizing resources to protect the ‘endangered’ Fanteakwa North Parliamentary seat.
The Eastern Regional Youth Organizer Jerry Osei Opoku told mybryfmonline.com that the youth wing will hold a mobilization forum on Friday, 23rd October 2020 at Bedtime Hotel, Koforidua towards a Street Campaign (Boots on Grounds) in Fanteakwa North Constituency to consolidate gains of the party ahead of the December 7 polls.
He said the move is part of an effort by the party to protect its seats and capture additional ones to meet its target of winning not less than 31 out of 33 Parliamentary seats in the Eastern Region.
The Fanteakwa North seat seems to be swinging to the National Democratic Congress as the incumbent NPP Member of Parliament Amankwah Asiamah seeks reelection for a third term.
The MP went unopposed during the Primaries after his contender Alhaji Moro Yakubu was disqualified creating agitation among polling station executives. Alhaji Moro decided to contest the seat as Independent Candidate but later rescinded the decision after several meetings with top party officials.
Nonetheless, there is widespread apathy among the constituents clamoring for a change of leadership as they accuse the incumbent MP of doing little to improve their living standards.
The Opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, Parliamentary Candidate Haruna Appaw -Wiredu is said to be making a lot of headway with his campaign in the Constituency threatening the success of the third term bid of the incumbent MP.
