Former New Edubiase and Salitas FC defender Nartey Polo is upbeat about his side’s chances of beating Ashantigold in the return fixture of the CAF Confederations Cup preliminary round.
The miners were held to a 0-0 draw at Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday by Salitas FC of Burkina Faso. The return fixture is set for this weekend in Burkina Faso.
Polo, a member of the Ashantigold squad that won the MTN FA Cup affirmed they are ready to do whatever it would take to beat Ashantigold and progress to the next stage of the competition.
“I can tell with boldness and without hesitation that, we will not spare Ashgold in Burkina Faso when they return for the second leg of the Confederation Cup prelims”, Confident Nartey Polo told Kumasi-based Pure FM.
“We’ll do everything possible to make sure we eliminate Ashantigold and they were on top in the first leg because we only arrived in Obuasi hours to kick-off and that affected us during the match”, he added.
The former New Edubiase player then made a wild accusation claiming the miners threw ‘Black Magic’ (Juju) into one of the goalposts but that didn’t work because the magic couldn’t cross the goal line.
“Ashantigold SC used Juju in our encounter but it didn’t work because we also came very prepared and even their Juju couldn’t enter our post and that should tell you why it ended work in their favour”, he alleged.
Salitas FC will welcome Ashantigold on Saturday, December 4 for the return encounter.
