The opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, the parliamentary candidate has won the disputed Sene West Parliamentary seat.
The declaration follows a ruling by the Wenchi High Court dismissing the New Patriotic Party’s case brought against the Electoral Commission which sought to injunct declaration of the only polling station left and the final collated results citing irregularities.
The court however described the suit as “irredeemably incompetent” hence dismissed the same and fined the party ¢14,000.
The court ruling paved way for the Electoral Commission to declare the results for the parliamentary contest in the Sene West constituency.
The NDC Parliamentary Candidate won the votes cast in the disputed polling station after the ballot was opened and counted in court with 275 votes as against 148 secured by the NPP candidate.
The NDC Candidate, therefore, won the parliamentary seat with 13,116 votes as against 13,100 polled by the NPP Candidate.
This means, the largest opposition party NDC and the ruling party NPP now have 137 Members of Parliament each, with an independent candidate who has announced to side with the NPP.
Meanwhile, the NDC has listed some four other Constituencies including Techiman South which will be heading to court to reverse the results over irregularities.
