Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) have been tasked to periodically engage the public on the policies and achievements of Government through organization of Town Hall meetings among many others.
Council of State member, Mr. Joseph Boateng Danquah, has also challenged MMDCEs to respond to the plight of Assembly members devoid of political affiliations to accelerate the development of the country.
Speaking at the inauguration of Assembly and Unit Committee members as well as Government Appointees at the New Juaben North Assembly at Koforidua-Effiduase, Mr. Boateng Danquah, emphasized on the need to decentralize the country’s governance system, hence, the need to appreciate the work of Assembly and Unit Committee members.
He, also, charged Assembly members to remain resolute in discharging their duties both at the Assembly and at their various electoral areas to perform creditably on their mandate.
He insisted that the Government is committed to the development of the country and urged all MMDCEs to work hard in ensuring policies of government are fulfilled.
The New Juaben North Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Madam Comfort Asante on her part, commended the newly inducted members and appointees for emerging winners in last year’s elections and welcomed them to the Assembly officially.
She stressed the need for members to support the Assembly’s activities at all times for accelerated development of the newly created municipality.
Madam Comfort Asante retreated that, the Akufo-Addo led government has initiated series of policies and programmes to improve the well-being of Ghanaians and therefore called on Assembly members as well as appointees to propagate the success of the government.
However, the Assembly maintained Dr. Edward Asante Antwi as the Presiding Member.
