Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon Simon Osei Mensah has said that they will support the government in the fight against illegal mining and shame government appointees involved in galamsey.
The Ashanti Regional Minister continued that the destruction of the farmlands affects food security and has disastrous consequences on the country.
Delivering a speech at the Regional Consultative Dialogue on Small Scale Mining at the KNUST in Kumasi, Hon Simon Mensah affirmed that it is an opportunity to name the government appointees involved in the galamsey.
“The government appointees involved in galamsey will be shamed and given proper sanctions,” Hon. Simon Mensah.
“We can’t go against the principles, policies of the president. I pray all the stakeholders to succeed in the fight against the galamsey,” he said.
Meanwhile, in 2017, President Nana Akufo-Addo declared that he was prepared to put his presidency on the line in the fight against galamsey.
