Teacher Trainees in the Country’s Public Colleges of Education have threatened to embark on series of demonstrations to drum home their demand for the government to pay their allowances that have been in arrears for months.
The trainees are also drumming home their demand for the Colleges Principals and the government to settle challenges facing the disbursement and payment feeding complement of their allowances.
The leadership of the Conference of Local TTAG (SRC) Presidents in the 46 Public Colleges of Education in a letter dated Friday, August 20, 2021, to the leadership of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG), National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) and all teacher trainees in Ghana, stated salient reasons for their intended action.
“The National Conference of Local TTAG Presidents herein referred to as PRESCOF writes to acknowledge your efforts so far in addressing various grievances of the teacher trainees of the Forty-Six (46) Colleges of Education.”
The Conference in its emergency meeting held via the PRESCOF NATIONAL WHATSAPP PLATFORM on Friday, 20 August 2021 agreed to inform the Leadership of the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana that the Conference of Local TTAG Presidents (PRESCOF) would be engaging their constituents in various forms of DEMONSTRATIONS on the following issues of trainees’ interest:
1. ALLOWANCE ARREARS;
2. FEEDING COMPONENTS; AND
3. ISSUES RELATED TO FEES FOR THE NEXT ACADEMIC YEAR.
