Borussia Dortmund youth development coach Otto Addo is set to become the second Black Stars player to coach Ghana at the FIFA World Cup.
The former Black Stars player confirmed in a podcast of Hamburger Abendblatt about his release to Ghana until 2023.
Otto Addo will therefore lead the Black Stars at the World Cup and in the AFCON qualifiers next month.
“I got permission from Dortmund. Under certain conditions, it works out that I can do the international game phases in June, September and also the World Cup,” Addo said in a podcast of Hamburger Abendblatt.
He will become the second Black Stars player to coach Ghana at the biggest soccer mundial after James Kwesi Appiah who led the four-time African Champions at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
The 46-year-old featured for the Black Stars between 1999 and 2006, making 15 appearances and bagging 2 goals.
Ghana has been paired against Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea in Group H.
The West African powerhouse will open their account at the World Cup against Portugal.
