Nigeria goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has denied quitting international football after Ghana’s blunder.
The 23-year-old has come under intense criticism after his howler against Ghana in the 2022 World Cup play-off second leg at the Moshood Abiola Sports Stadium in March.
Uzoho failed to save Thomas Partey’s long-range drive as it slipped through his hands.
The goal conceded by the goalkeeper helped Ghana to qualify for the 2022 World Cup on the away goal rule after the game ended 1-1.
Earlier reports suggested the Omonia Nicosia shot-stopper has called it a quit on the Super Eagles.
But in an interview with the Super Eagles media, he has downplayed such reports and has called on the public to treat it with the needed contempt it deserves.
“I’m committed to playing for my dear country anytime I’m called up,” Uzoho told the Super Eagles media team.
Meanwhile, Uzoho has been left out of Nigeria’s squad for the upcoming friendlies against Mexico and Ecuador.
The 23-year-old has 18 caps for the Super Eagles.
