The Effutu Municipal Assembly in Winneba has donated over 500 dual desks to support the Education Directorate to help take care of the deficit in desking in the various schools.
Presenting them to the Directorate, the Municipal Chief Executive(MCE) for the Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon Alhaji Zubairu Kasim explained that the desks to the directorate show commitment from the president of the republic Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo in the education sector towards improving education across the country.
He revealed the desks are to be distributed to some schools in Winneba including the Vocational Training Institute which has this year alone admitted over 600 students to learn vocational training courses.
Hon Alhaji Zubairu Kasim charged the education directorate to consider developing a maintenance culture to help last the desks since the Assembly is committed to making sure more is provided towards the improvement of teaching and learning.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Director of Education at the Effutu Education Directorate, Mrs Mabel Judith Micah has commended the MCE, Assembly and President Akufo-Addo for the provision of the desks.
She has, however, revealed that her outfit is facing many challenges, hence appealing for help to improve education in the Municipality.
