The New Patriotic Party’s Patriotic Front liners have condemned the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, for openly campaigning for the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the NPP Presidential Primaries.
According to them, the rules of the party frown on such activities especially since other contenders for the post have been barred from doing the same.
They noted that while they are not surprised by Chairman Wontumi’s conduct, his actions only seek to buttress their long-held suspicion that Dr. Bawumia has been secretly campaigning and blatantly flouting the orders of the party.
The group has thus called on the leadership of the party to rein in the Regional Chairman.
They are also demanding that Chairman Wontumi steps down from his post as “he has lost every opportunity to serve as an independent arbiter in the upcoming Presidential Primaries of the NPP.”
