A group calling itself Volunteers of Thomas Ampem Nyarko (VOTAN) has paid cost of nomination form for the Member of Parliament for Asuogyaman Constituency in Eastern region.
The group presented Ghc5000 cash to the MP to pick the forms when nomination opens on Tuesday February 21,2023.
The group made up of admirers of the MP and sympathizers of the NDC believe, Hon.Thomas Ampem Nyarko deserves third term based on his sterling performance over the years.
They argue that, the MP is committed and dedicated to his work as representative of the people fronting for improvement in living standards of his constituents.
They listed hundreds of interventions and projects made by the MP in the area of health, education, sanitation, economic empowerment among others.
According to the group ,Hon.Thomas Ampem Nyarko is the only person with the clout and competence to retain the seat for the NDC.
Hon.Thomas Ampem Nyarko made history in 2020 when he became the first MP in Asuogyaman to be re-elected consecutively having defeated the NPP candidate, Paul Ansah.
He polled 24,439 votes to beat his main contender, Mr Paul Asare Ansah of the New Patriotic Party, a former Director-General of the Ghana Ports and Habours Authority (GHAPOHA), who also bagged 23,201 votes in the tight contest.
In the Presidential Election, Incumbent President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the NPP obtained 22,232 votes, while Former President John Mahama of the NDC polled 24,470 of the valid ballots cast.
The Ghana Union Movement’s candidate got 22.
