Former Member of Parliament for Karaga constituency, Alhassan Sualihu Dandaawa has said that the seat which he lost to the New New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Dr. Amin Adam Anta will be taken back in 2024, adding that he is the only person to do that.
He said this when he was addressing journalists after successfully going through vetting at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) regional secretariat on Wednesday April 5.
When asked what his position on the ballot paper meant to him, he said, “I am number 1 on the ballot paper. And this is the same position former president Mahama also picked when he went to vetting. It means that the 2 of us are all returning to serve Ghana as president and MP respectively.”
“NPP across the country are sacred of president John Mahama. And i am also the nightmare of NPP in Karaga constituency. They know I am coming back for the seat. So they are not happy. Karaga has retrogressed under the current MP”, he added.
Mr. Dandaawa lost the seat to the NPP Dr. Amin Adam who was then a deputy energy minister, making it the first time the NPP won the seat since its creation.
The NDC believes he has not lived up to expectations of the people of Karaga comparing his records to the promises he made prior to the 2020 elections.
