The Constituency Communication Officer for the National Democratic Congress in Wassa Amenfi East of the Western region, Mr. Thomas Dindiego has charged the Special Prosecutor to go after heinous scandals rather than wasting taxpayers money on needles investigations.
According to media report, Mr. John Dramani Mahama, the current NDC flagbearer for 2024 presidential election is under investigation by the Special Prosecutor’s office over allegations of gh¢40 bribery to delegates.
Another report also indicates that the same Special Prosecutor has summoned Juliana Kinang-Wassan, a defeated National Democratic Congress parliamentary aspirant for Ejura Sekyedumase for ‘spraying cash’ on delegates during a parliamentary primary.
However, reacting to the news on Wednesday, the Constituency Communication Officer, Mr. Thomas Dindiego says it’s a misplaced priority for investigation into Mr. Mahama’s gh¢40 to delegates because, he believes the outcome of the investigation will not fulfil any evil target.
Thomas Dindiego emphasized that John Mahama funded his campaign tour through public donations from his donation App he launched.
He explained that, the money, which was given for transportation should not be misconstrued as an inducement and classified as a bribe by the Special Prosecutor because the money cannot and didn’t influence voters in favour of Mr. Mahama, who was competing for the party’s flagbearership.
He also described an invitation extended to the party’s Parliamentary candidate hopeful in the just ended Ejura parliamentary primary by Lawyer Kissi Agyabeng as witch-hunting and a waste of resources.
Mr. Dindiego has rather directed the Office of the Special Prosecutor to focus on probing heaping scandals that has rocked Akufo-Addo’s government and his corrupt appointees.
To this end, he has urged the Office of the Special Prosecutor to thoroughly investigate the Electricity Company of Ghana Power Distribution Services (PDS) scandal, Prof. Frimpong Boateng’s Galamsey report and expose all those behind the debacle.
Mr. Dindiego told journalists that the Vice President and the NPP flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia must be summoned before the Special Prosecutor to answer questions about sources of funding for his new 100 branded pickup vehicles meant for a mere party primaries going viral on social media.
The NDC Amenfi East Communication Officer again urged the Special Prosecutor to act on the findings of the Auditor-General’s report on the government’s corrupt COVID-19 expenditure covering the period March 2020 to June 2022 and prosecute the malfeasances.
He said, the OSP had mandate as an independent anti-corrupt body, to carry out probes and report to the public on how state resources were applied to pave the way for the punishment of infractions by the government.
Therefore, he believes that it’s important for Ghanaians to know all those who were responsible for these botched deal rather than focusing on baseless and unjustifiable accusations against innocent individual.
