Leadership of the New Patriotic Party and the opposition National Democratic Congress have met with the Inspector General of Police, IGP ahead of Tuesday by-election at Kumawu.
The meeting which was at the instance of the IGP was called so that the Police could address the security concerns of both parties.
The NDC General Secretary, Fiifi Kwetey expressed the concerns of the NDC regarding non-uniformed personnel of the Police Service who have been cited for major and unfortunate security mishaps in past by-elections.
IGP George Akuffu Dampare was emphatic that all Police Officers who will have a role to play in the By-election will be in Police uniforms and their names will be boldly displayed on their uniforms.
He also used the opportunity to express gratitude to the IGP and the Police Management Board for the splendid work done on maintaining law and order at the recent Parliamentary and Presidential Primaries of the NDC and hope that the by-election will also see same level of professionalism of the Police Service.
The NPP on the other hand pledged to go by the rules and standards laid down by all stakeholders involved in the exercise.
The IGP on his part assured the meeting that this will be the best by-election in the 4th Republic in terms of maintaining law and order by the Police Service.
