The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Sagnarigu Constituency of the Northern Region is calling for unity and support in building the party after a ‘divisive’ parliamentary primaries.
The party says the time has come for its members to put behind the differences they had before and during the parliamentary primaries which saw incumbent Member of Parliament, Alhaji ABA Fuseini lose to Attah Issah, the party’s 2024 Parliamentary Candidate.
The campaigns of the two saw a sharp division among supporters of the two aspirants, with supporters of the defeated Alhaji ABA Fuseini threatening not to vote for the NDC’s Parliamentary Candidate in the 2024 General Elections, following the defeat of Alhaji Fuseini.
However addressing a news conference in Sagnarigu on Sunday, Sagnarigu Constituency Communication Officer of the NDC, Abdulai Mohammed Amin urged members of the party to rise above individuals differences and bridge gaps.
“We understand that primaries can be a challenging and divisive time, as it elicit diverse opinions, preferences, and passions. However, now is the moment to rise above individual differences, bridge gaps, and forge a common purpose that transcends personal ambitions, focusing instead on the greater good of our community.” he said.
Mr Mohammed Amin said it was only through a united front that the party could retain the parliamentary seat in the constituency and ultimately win the 2024 Presidential Election.
“It Is of paramount importance that we rally behind our parliamentary Candidate and the presidential candidate to deliver massive victory for our party in the 7th December 2024 general elections.”
“We wholeheartedly believe that, with our unwavering support for the Parliamentary candidate ,Hon. Atta Issah he shall win the seat with a landslide victory to propel the Sagnarigu Constituency towards a future of progress, prosperity and inclusivity.” the NDC Communication Officer added.
He called on all aggrieved members of the party and branch executives in particular to use the laid down party structures to address their grievances, this he noted would ensure the party remains attractive to the people.
“To ensure harmony and fairness, we call upon all branch executives to address any outstanding issues utilizing the established party procedures. This commitment to due process will enable us to foster a culture of respect, transparency, and democratic values within our party. By embracing proper channels of communication and conflict resolution, we can collectively strengthen our party and enhance the trust and confidence of our constituents.” Mr Mohammed Amin stressed.
