The Okyeman Lands Taskforce has arrested nine(9) land guards operating in Teacher Mante in Ayensuano District in Eastern region.
This was after the taskforce clashed with the landguards in exchange of gunfire on Tuesday May 30,2023.
The land guards armed with guns invaded parcel of land sold by Okyenhene to Rockstars Company.
They were allegedly hired by one Kofi Acquah who claim the land belongs to his family therefore Okyenhene has no right to sell the land.
According to the Akwansrahene of Akyem Abuakwa Traditional Area who is the leader of the taskforce Barima Asiedu Bekoe narrated that “the land was purchased by Rockstars Company from Okyenhene which has been documented for some years now but recently one Kofi Acquah claiming ownership of the land therefore he is the one behind the sponsoring of land guards on the land”.
“We had information this morning so I organized my taskforce and we went there but we realized that they are armed because they started firing guns and shouting that what will happen will happen today. We also prepared so we faced them and in the process we arrested 9 of them and others ran away” Barima Asiedu Bekoe said.
He however noted that the Okyeman Lands Taskforce had since handed over the 9 land guards to the Kyebi Divisional Police Command for further investigations.
