The Black Stars failed to secure qualification to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after sharing the spoils in the penultimate games on Sunday.
Ghana was unable to defeat Madagascar in Antananarivo in the fifth round of the qualifier.
The African giants were held by Madagascar to a pulsating goalless draw at the Stade Barea Mahamasina.
The four-time AFCON winners could have secured their slot at the continental showpiece set for Ivory Coast next year if they had won against Madagascar.
But the draw means Ghana will have to wait until the final game of Group E to seal their qualification to the tournament.
Ghana remain top of the group with 9 points from five games with one more match to go in September against the Central African Republic in Kumasi.
The final round of the AFCON qualifiers has been set for September this year.
