A northern region based journalist, Mohammed M Bondirigbim has rendered an unqualified apology to Northern Regional Organizer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Rashid Salifu, also known as Rashid COP for any defamatory
statement I made against him.
His apology came following a court writ by the NPP Northern Regional Organizer over a defamatory statement on Tamale based Diamond FM and Dagbon Radio respectively on June 14, 2023.
In the said writ, lawyer Sylvester Isang of Gbewaa Chambers wrote as part of their demands that, “Our client instructs that to the hearing of all the listeners of Diamond FM at the time you categorically made certain statements to the effect that our
client had been given thirty (30) Protocol tickets for the Hajj 2023 which said
tickets are meant for all or some selected persons across the 18 constituencies
of the Northern Region such as Mallams, Imams and other persons that were
to be sent to the Hajj to pray for Ghana at large, Norther Region and the
Party.”
“Our instructions are that you went on further to state that our client has diverted the protocol tickets selling some to the general public giving three of the said protocol tickets to his first wife, second wife and his senior father. Our client further instructs that you further boasted that you what you were saying on the live programme is on authority and anyone who doubts could verify it”, the lawyer added.

APOLOGY LETTER
I write to render an unqualified apology to Mr. Rashid Salifu, also known as Rashid COP: Northern Regional Organizer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP). I apologize for any defamatory statement I made against him on Diamond FM and Dagbon Radio on June 14, 2023.
The said statement, made during a live afternoon programme dubbed “siasa ni leginsim saha”, which literally translated Dagbani political talk show”, were made due to some emotions during the programmes and not a deliberate ploy to damage the reputation of my good brother and I therefore plead with him to forgive me.
I also retract any statement made against Rashid COP on air and would ensure the respective radio stations retract such voices from their system.
I will not repeat such statement again.
I therefore apologize through my counsel and your well-established chamber to have mercy on me as a first felony.
I pray my apology letter would be accepted in good faith.
