A group of aggrieved delegates and members of the New Patriotic Party in Akuapem South Constituency has kicked against the long term stay of their member of Parliament, Hon. Osei Bonsu Amoah.
According to the group, the member of Parliament has spent about sixteen (16) years as a lawmaker and believe a change is required going into the 2024 elections for them to retain the seat.
Lead convenor of the group, Benjamin Addo alledges that, surveys has proven that the member of Parliament, Hon. Osei Bonsu Amoah has become so unpopular and the probability of losing the seat in forthcoming general elections is high.
The group further accused the lawmaker of failing to support the grassroot activities and some key members of the party within the Constituency.
“The grassroot has been denied the opportunity to get jobs the slot are given to persons outside the Constituency. His popularity has also gone which does not give us the confidence that he can help the party break the 8 in 2024”, he said.
“We also feel we have been victimized under his leadership which has forced many of the party grassroot to either stay away from party activities or join other Political parties”, Benjamin added.
Another accusation against OB Amoah according to the group is his act of “divide and rule” which he employs.
“Hon. O B Amoah employs Divide and Rule tactics which brings division and confusions among the party executives e.i Constituency Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators and Polling Stations Executives. This makes the party unattractive and it is very dangerous especially this time that we call for a membership drive” he explained.
It is on the back of these reasons and others that the aggrieved group are kicking against the candidature of OB Amoah who is nearing two decades as a member of Parliament if he is to contest again.
