Divine Mother and Child Foundation (DMAC), a maternal and child health-focused NGO in Koforidua has donated fifteen (15) Veronica hand washing buckets to Abuakwa South Municipal Assembly.
The items were presented by the Executive Director of DMAC Foundation, Edmund Atweri Duodu and received on behalf of the Assembly by the Municipal Health Director, Augustina Nartey.
The hand washing kits are expected to be distributed and positioned at immunization and CHPS zones in the municipality for pregnant women and nursing mothers to wash their hands frequently to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus.
The Municipal Health Director, Miss Augustina Nartey commended the NGO for supporting the fight against coronavirus. She said frequent hand washing is very critical to preventing the spread of the deadly virus which has ravaged many countries and now reeling in Ghana.
The Executive Director of DMAC Foundation Edmund Duodu explained that “the donation is part of the Ghana Coronavirus Relief Fund organized by Crowdafrica, an online crowdfunding platform to support the fight against coronavirus in Ghana”
The Ghana Health Service has confirmed fifteen new cases of coronavirus Wednesday, March 25, 2020, amid ongoing nationwide fasting and prayers for God’s intervention.
The new confirmed Cases bring the national figure from 53 cases recorded as of Tuesday, March 24, 2020, to 68 including two fatalities.
“As of the morning of 25 March 2020, a total of sixty-eight (68) cases including two (2) deaths have been confirmed. Sixty-six (66) of these confirmed cases are being managed in isolation”. A statement by GHS Wednesday morning stated.
The statement added “the sudden spike in case incidence is as a result of the mandatory quarantine and compulsory testing for all travelers entering Ghana, as directed by the president. Overall, 30 of the 68 cases have been reported in the general population with the remaining 38 cases among persons currently under mandatory quarantine. As of 24 March, a total of 1,030 persons are under mandatory quarantine; samples from 863 of them have been tested and 38 confirmed positive.
The great majority of the confirmed cases are Ghanaians, who returned home from affected countries. Seven (7) are of other nationalities namely: Norway, Lebanon, China and UK”.
According to GHS “in respect of contact tracing, a total of 829 contacts have been identified and are being tracked. A total of 826 contacts have been enlisted and being tracked. Nineteen (19) people have completed the 14 days of mandatory.”
