Some delegates across the Tamale South Constituency of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) have today, Thursday, July 13 picked a nomination form for Alhaji Baba Alhassan who has declared his intentions to contest the party’s upcoming parliamentary primaries.
Speaking to the media after the short ceremony at the NPP Tamale South Constituency office, the delegates said it was the right thing to support Alhaji Baba Alhassan’s candidature, since he has demonstrated readiness to defeat the incumbent Haruna Iddrisu for them.
“So far, Alhaji Baba Alhassan has indicated that he is someone who can help us win the seat for the NPP since 2004 elections. Alhaji Baba Alhassan is targeting the next elections not the primaries…”, the delegates said.
“Alhaji Baba Alhassan is a communicator close to 20 years. He has been a communications director for the party. He knows every corner of the constituency”, they added.
The Tamale South Constituency became NPP when the late Musatapha Iddris won it in 1996 and retained it in 2000 elections, but lost it to 2004 to the incumbent Haruna Iddrisu.
