Residents of Senya Beraku in the Awutu Senya West of the Central Region are happy about the construction of the Gomoa Ojob – Senya Beraku road and have therefore commended the lawmaker for the area for her lobbying power.
They say it will help prevent robbery attacks on traders whilst boosting tourism activities to help improve the local economy.
Criminals took advantage of the poor nature of the road to attack traders and tourists and robbed them of their cash and valuables.
It was also always life threatening transporting the sick and pregnant women to the hospital.
Most commercial drivers stopped plying the route as it became non lucrative.
But residents can have a sigh of relief as the road is being constructed.
Residents are glad and have expressed satisfaction with the progress of work done on the stretch by the contractor but are appealing for township roads to be factored.
The Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya West Constituency Hon Gizella Agbotui Tetteh is equally satisfied with the progress of work and exalts the contractor for not relenting.
She believes the full completion of construction works on the road will enhance the local economy as it will also promote trade and tourism in the area.
She has, however, called on government to pay contractors working on road projects in the area on time to ensure swift efficiency.
The construction of the road is however generating heated political debate between the MP’s supporters and those of Eugene Arhin, Director of Communications at the presidency who is seeking to lead the New Patriotic Party in the constituency over whose lobbying has yielded the good result.
Speaking to Bryt Fm News Correspondent Eric Owusu Amponsah, during an inspection tour, the MP revealed she is convinced that her relentless lobbying is what has given birth to the construction of the Gomoa Ojobi – Senya Beraku road.
She pledged to do her best to ensure people in the area see the needed development they deserve.
