In order to guarantee that the next November 4 Presidential primary is handled fairly and openly, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, a flagbearer candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), has issued a warning to the party’s elections committee.
The outspoken politician claimed he would not hesitate to take on the party if he believed the polls had been rigged in favor of another candidate during a speech during his Kumasi Showdown walk on September 30, 2023.
“I’m not like Alan who is gentle, let them try…” Ken warned amidst thunderous cheers from his supporters.
Alan Kyerematen, a former trade and industry minister who recently left the NPP alleging intimidation and unjust treatment against him and his supporters in the NPP’s flagbearership campaign, was the individual to whom Mr. Agyapong was alluding.
In order to run as an independent in the impending 2024 Presidential elections, Mr. Kyerematen has now established what he calls Movement For Change.
During the election, Mr. Agyapong declared that he would follow the “an eye for an eye” principle and would not put up with bullying.
Additionally, he stated that he had received substantial financial inducements to resign in order to make way for Vice President Bawumia.
He claimed to have declined all of these proposals, including one that promised to pair him with Dr. Bawumia as a running mate.
