The outgoing Chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region has urged Ghanaians to choose religious tolerance at all times and support each other.
Speaking to Muslims at the Nkawkaw Mosque during the celebration of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday ‘Peace be unto Him’ on Saturday, Andy Kwaku Ameyaw a parliamentary aspirant for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) explained that Ghana is a country that has three major religions namely Islam, Christianity, Traditional Worship and other minor religious associations so there is the need for members of these faith based organizations to cultivate and nurture the habit of tolerating each other especially during election seasons.
The hardheaded intelligent and astute politician who is preparing to represent the Nkawkaw constituency in the next parliament said with tolerance there will be unending peace so we can all develop and move the country forward successfully.
Present at the event were Sheikh Kallifa Abdul Faid Jalo, head of Tijania Muslims Council, Tamimu Halidu, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) chairman for the Nkawkaw Constituency, Fred Somuah, parliamentary aspirant for the National Democratic Congress in the Nkawkaw Constituency and other dignitaries. Andy Kwaku Ameyaw asked blessings from Allah for all Muslims, the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuhu Shaributu, the President of the Republic Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo, the Nkawkaw Zongo Chief, Ghanaians and Ghana as a country. He also asked all Muslims to pray for their brother the Vice President of Ghana, Alhaji Dr Mahamud Bawumia as he contests to lead the NPP and eventually become the next president of the Republic of Ghana.
