The Electoral Commission in the West Akyem Municipal of the Eastern Region registered a total of 4,196 new Voters during the period for the Limited Voter Registration Exercise which ended 2nd October 2023.

Madam Sarah Gyamfuah Akuoko said they had 40 people who were challenged as minors and after thorough investigation,about 70% of them could not prove that they are 18 years so their Identity cards have been seized by the Commission for further action.
She said the minors confessed that they were forced by some relatives and Political Party leaders to Register.
Madam Sarah Gyamfuah Akuoko lauded the New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress Representatives who were at the Registration center for their collaboration.
As at 2020, total number of voters in the Lower West Akyem Constituency were over 69,000 and the NPP has been winning the seat since the year 2000 with Honourable Charles Acheampong as current Member of Parliament.
